Mead Street runs parallel to York Road and the New Cut, joining Bath Road south of Temple Meads. It is currently occupied by mainly single-storey light industrial and service businesses. The aspiration is to create a flourishing urban neighbourhood with a mix of new homes and workspaces, as part of the Temple Quarter developments.
BWA has responded to the recent survey on emerging principles and concepts for regeneration of Mead Street. We strongly support the four guiding principles for making it a place people want to live and work, including better sustainable travel routes and quality green spaces.
However, we point out that this development will increase the need to improve the pedestrian route to Temple Meads and the extremely poor pedestrian connection across Bath Bridges via the inadequate shared pedestrian/cycle route on the footway.
