The University of Bristol has submitted a detailed planning application (19/05746/M) for its new campus beside Temple Meads Station. The design of the public realm near the junction with Cattle Market Road has gone though several iterations, but the latest proposals are an improvement in terms of giving clear and relatively direct routes for both pedestrians and cyclists passing the campus as well as those terminating or originating there.
In comments submitted by BWA, we still have concerns about how the area will cope with the high volumes of pedestrian traffic, not only to and from the campus itself, but also from future developments at St Philips Marsh. We have set out some detailed issues that we hope will be addressed as the designs are finalised.
