BWA has responded to the latest engagement on the Western Harbour. This is the area around the Cumberland Basin which has been under debate since 2019. The latest suggestions are much more modest, particularly in proposed scale of housing and road reconfiguration. Comments at this stage will feed into a draft masterplan for the area, due early next year.
In our comments, we broadly welcome the latest ideas covering road alignments, flood defences, green spaces, new homes and mix of uses. We have pointed out again (as we did in the 2021 engagement) that connectivity must include key walking routes across the area, and that walking and cycling should be segregated.
