Temple Island planning objection

BWA has put in an objection to the planning application (25/10013/P) for development of Temple Island.

In our objection we point out that insufficient mitigation has been built into the plans to improving the pedestrian access along Bath Road. This is one of the worst pieces of pedestrian infrastructure in the city, with pedestrians, cyclists and e-scooters expected to share a 1.8m wide footway immediately adjacent to a busy main road.

We would have expected the masterplan for this development to have provided more support for improving this footway. Rather than just reserving space for a potential widened footway in the future, we would have expected that the infrastructure would have been put in place as part of the development.

We urge the developers to work with Bristol City Council and the West of England Combined Authority, to create a widened footway along the Bath Road that meets current national standards, including segregated pedestrian footway and cycle route.
