A second edition of the BWA booklet 50 Ways to Better Walking was launched at the Bristol City Full Council Meeting on 8th October 2024.
The six Councillors who have agreed to be walking champions welcomed the booklet, copies of which have been given to each Bristol Councillor.
The six walking champions are (l to r) Cllr Andrew Brown (Lib Dem), Cllr Lisa Stone (Green), Cllr Graham Morris (Con), Cllr Lorraine Francis (Green), Cllr Christine Townsend (Green) and Cllr Katja Hornchen (Lab).
As well as promoting walking as a healthy and sustainable form of travel in their wards, the walking champions have committed to do their best to make sure the City Council and others take action to break down the barriers to walking in our city.
The second edition of 50 Ways to Better Walking updates the 50 actions to be better aligned with current ambitions, including School Streets and Liveable Neighbourhoods. The measures included in the booklet provide more detail for the walking-related actions outlined in the Bristol Transport Strategy 2019.
