BWA has objected to a planning application that would threaten the pedestrian environment around the proposed development of the Bart Spices site on Mead Street.
In the overall framework for Mead Street, on which we commented in 2022, plans were made to allow space for an active travel corridor as well as a public transport route. This included widening of footways, including along St Luke’s Road.
However, the current application, which is to request a variation on what was approved by City Council Planning Committee against the recommendation of officers, would introduce obstructions to pedestrian footways. We support the objections of the City Council Transport Development Management officers to the proposals.
