The e-scooter trial that has been underway for over two years is due to be extended for a minimum further two years. The West of England Combined Authority is currently asking for operators to bid to run the new micro-mobility scheme, which is to include e-bikes and e-cargo bikes as well as e-scooters, from June 2023.
BWA has frequently commented on the issues raised by e-scooters, including pavement riding and pavement parking which causes obstructions. We hope that the new micro-mobility contract will offer solutions to the problems that have arisen for pedestrians, and have set out our expectations for micro-mobility operators bidding for the new contract.
